Heart Attack

30 12 2008

For those of you who are unaware, I have been patiently waiting for my new driver license for 3 months now. Well, a week after it finally expired I decided to give the DMV another call. To my delight the person told me I am not being processed for a renewal and I have to go in to my local DMV location. “No!” I cried. “I sent the form in. You processed my check! I spoke to someone in November who said everything is fine and that it will take a few more weeks!” “Sorry, there is nothing I can do.” The voice on the phone told me.

Nothing you can do! That’s not good enough!

So I asked to speak to someone. He gives me the number to the legal department in Sacramento as an extra special FU go away.

So I call, get bounced around 47 times and finally land in the lap of sweet Rebecca. Good, kind, nice Rebecca, “No, I’m sorry, your renewal is not in the system. I don’t see your payment.” “What!” I cried again. “I have the check printed out right here.” “Okay, let me see what I can do.”

Music.

“Tanaya, I found your money…” She went on to explain to me why it got held up and then lost. Something about a federal data base, sounds like the wonderful work of Homeland Security to me. “I’ll double check tomorrow that it went through and you should have it in 15 business days.”

Makes me wish I had called earlier and not have been so patient. But thanks to Rebecca I am not in tears right now.

Hopefully this won’t become a bigger issue. Stay tuned.
